Remember Reon Pocket? It is Sony’s first “wearable AC” that was launched last year. Now, Sony has launched an upgraded model dubbed as the Reon Pocket 2. While the looks are the same, the new version offers better cooling and heat absorption. Interestingly, you can use it as a warmer too. As for the price it costs 14,850 Yen which translates to around Rs 10,300. But the issue is that this device is only available in Japan for the moment.
Sony says that the Reon Pocket 2 can cool or warm the body surface of the body contact part by operating it via smartphone app. It is sweat-proof and drip-proof and the design is claimed to make it possible to use it for light exercise. The device uses stainless steel for the cold and hot parts that come into contact with the body surface.
Also, Sony will start providing licenses for Reon Pocket compatible wear and accessories. “By expanding the items that can be attached to the main body, it can be used for various purposes according to your lifestyle,” said the company.
The Reon Pocket is a product born from the “Sony Startup Acceleration Program that supports the creation of startups and business operations. “In crowdfunding, we achieved the target amount of 66 million Yen (around Rs 4.6 crore) in the first week after the start, and after commercialisation, we started general sales in 2020,” it added.
