It’s been a while since Apple declared that it would host Hi-Fi (high fidelity) content on Apple Music. The Spatial Audio and Lossless support have already begun rolling out for iOS users around the world, though they are yet to appear to users in India. Now, Apple Music users on Android will now be able to get a taste of 24-bit-192kHz lossless audio, Dolby Atmos, and more (via 9to5Google). Apple Music for Android is now getting the new features, though only through the latest beta version for now. It is a great way for audiophiles to test the waters and determine if Apple Music Hi-Fi is worth all the hype. Not all content may get the Hi-Fi treatment just yet, meaning that there is a good chance that you may have to wait a while before your favourite artist/track is available in high fidelity.

Other changes include the addition of Crossfade, which essentially starts playing a new track immediately after the previous one has ended. It allows you to overlap the ending tunes of one song with the starting tunes of another. There are some search enhancements to the music library, too. Apple Music also tells you the approximate data consumed by every file type. Here’s the full changelog for Apple Music beta version 3.6 for Android.

In this update, Apple Music adds spatial listening on compatible devices, with thousands of tracks in Dolby Atmos available at launch.

Other updates include:

• Lossless Audio, a new way to experience un-compromised sound, with bit-for-bit accuracy.

• Automatic Crossfade, a new way to listen that blends each song into the next for a seamless experience.

• Search enhancements to library, which allow you to more easily find your favorite music with in-line search.

Do note that you will require some fairly high-end wired hardware to fully differentiate between regular and lossless audio. For the best experience, we’d recommend a pair of wired headphones with a good DAC as Bluetooth headphones will not be able to stream in lossless. You can, however, experience Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio through Bluetooth headphones.
